FAQ

Q: Do you make cupcakes for special dietary needs?
A: Yes and no… We offer products that are both gluten-free AND dairy-free/vegan for those who may have sensitivities or preferences for those products.  Sorry, we do not make diabetic-friendly, sugar-free, or keto-friendly products.
DISCLAIMER: Our gluten- and dairy-free products are baked in a shared kitchen  on shared equipment with items containing both gluten and animal products. All of these menu items are prepared with soy and some of these menu items contain nuts. While we sanitize equipment 100% between use and exercise greater care to properly handle these products in our shared kitchen, we cannot and do not guarantee that our gluten- and dairy-free products do not contain trace elements of gluten or dairy due to cross-contamination. Please consult with your healthcare provider to determine if it is safe for you to consume these products as we cannot advise you or guarantee anything.
FOR TREE AND NUT ALLERGIES: While we do offer loads of cupcake options without nuts as actual ingredients, we also offer many menu items containing nuts; AND as we bake and prepare all products in the same shared kitchen on shared equipment we cannot guarantee that these items do not contain nuts due to cross contamination. Please consult with your healthcare provider to determine if it is safe for you to consume our products as we cannot advise you or guarantee anything.

Q:  What is your refund/cancellation policy?
A: Simply put, all sales are final. Due to the handcrafted nature of our award-winning cupcakes, cakes, and cookies, we often limit the number of orders we can accept on any given day. Preparations for your order begin well in advance of actually baking your order, including ordering ingredients and scheduling staff. For this reason, there are absolutely no refunds or store credits issued after payment has been made, including cancellations due to Covid-19.  Should you need to cancel your order after it has been placed and paid for, we will not issue you a refund or store credit, nor will we modify your order which results in a change in the total price of your order (unless you are adding additional products). Additionally, we do not accept requests for changes to your pickup date that are within 7 days of your order. For these reasons we strongly suggest you wait to place your order until you’re absolutely certain.

Q: Do you offer a discount?
A: Yes!  It’s always cheaper by the dozen! All jumbo or regular size cupcakes purchased by the dozen automatically receive an $8.00 discount. (Sorry, our discount does not apply to our mini cupcakes.)

Q: Can I place an order online?
A: YES! Place your order online for next day pickup by clicking here!  Don’t see what you would like to order online?  Wanting to pickup something today? Give us a call at 317-396-2696 (option 6) to place your order!

Q: Can I place an order for same-day pickup?
A:  No and Yes.  Our bakers and decorators arrive in the wee hours of dawn and are often long gone shortly after we open for business.  For that reason, any cake or cupcake custom order (a specific flavor and/or with custom decoration) requires at least one day’s notice.  SAME DAY PICKUP ORDERS: We offer same day cupcake pickup if you are happy to select from the flavor options available on that particular day with no customized decor.  Give us a jingle at 317-396-2696 to learn about today’s flavor options!  We will happily set aside any of the available flavors for pickup at your convenience that same day at any area location.

Q: How far in advance should I place my custom order?
A: Place your order online by clicking here for pickup as soon as tomorrow!  If you are wanting to order something not available on our online menu, please email us at theflyingcupcakebakery@gmail.com or call us at 317-396-2696!  Our staff will work with you to create your custom cupcake order!  All custom orders must be paid in full at the time of placing your order. Usually, we can accommodate almost any order with at least 1 day’s notice.  Weekends usually fill up fast in advance. We highly recommend that you place your order well in advance of your special event (the earlier the better!) if possible!

Q: Do you have cakes available for purchase for same-day pickup?
A: At this time, we only have cakes available for pre-order with 24 hours notice. However, all of our locations are stocked daily with dozens of flavors of cupcakes to choose from!

Q: Can you write on cupcakes?
A: YES! We can write on our JUMBO cupcakes only.  You must order them in advance with a custom décor fee of $2 per cupcake.  Sorry, we can’t write on cupcakes purchased the same day.

Q: Do you deliver your cupcakes?
A: Yes! Please click here to learn more about our local delivery options.

Q: Can The Flying Cupcake donate to my charity?
A: For donation requests, please email us your request to theflyingcupcakebakery@gmail.com.  We get hundreds of requests for awesome causes each week so please don’t be offended if we don’t respond (although we try to reply to all requests) or cannot donate to your very special charity.

Q: Is The Flying Cupcake really Indy’s Original Cupcake Bakery?
A: Yep. Actually, it was the first in Indiana when it opened in 2007. While others have followed, the Flying Cupcake remains the local favorite to Hoosiers and visitors alike.  Buzzfeed.com listed The Flying Cupcake as a top place to visit in their list of 25 Sweet Cupcake Shops Around the World to Eat at Before You Die.  We have also been listed as “Best Cupcake Bakery in Indiana” by MSN.com, “Ten to Try” by Paula Deen Magazine, “Best Cupcakes in Indy” by the Indy A-List every year since 2008, and featured on CNN and in USA Today and Midwest Living.  Owned 100% locally by a woman, we are the real deal for small shop shopping.
